Prom Queens

so last week lynn wrote to us about her prom. she wants a dress that she can wear more than once, something that is different and we're assuming that she'll like for this to happen on a minimal budget.

Cocktail Clash.
instead of one single dress, work a little harder to put together an unexpected cocktail number with two separate items. when the night is over, you'll have two new (very wearable) items. look for at least one luxe-looking item: like a great flouncy skirt or a very well-made top.

if you have the budget, go all the way! if you don't, the idea is to go for a stylish high/low clash. a few ideas: (1) colour on colour. just because they are separate doesn't mean their colours have to be different! (2) prints on prints. animals, floral, plaids. the list is endless. (3) colour blocks. two chunks of solid brights, very cute. (4) colour on prints. and vice versa.

of course, you can totally walk away with a fabulous one-piece dress too. and it's possible to find a great dress for below S$100. for a worthy investment, your dress should ideally work for you in at least 2 more ways: say a nice dinner date and wedding dinner. or try our favourite idea of turning a cocktail dress (rhinestones, sparkles and all) into a great weekend day dress by dressing it down with sandals or flats!
