This sunday,



quiet haji lane turns noisy little fun fair! what to expect: pre-loved personal goods and discounted items from some of the shops. we've got a 50% sale on past season clothing, shoes and jeans(!). plus, a very special selection of defected items going off at incredible prices. the sunday market is happening on 5th july, 12pm - 8pm. really nice poloroid shot of haji lane from here.

turns out the prada marfa is an art installation!


debut exhibition by cute new book store polymath & crust. featuring preservations of specimens from nature. the show intermingles science and art by re-examining our consciousness of nature, the exotic and the grotesque. from 27 june - 17 july, at 86 club street.

The new



july issue of monocle is a really wonderful read! cover story: the top 25 liveable cities. singapore scored 18th position. our favourite has to be their chain-store pollution meter. tokyo has 219 starbucks outlets, copenhagen has 2 (in the airport), stockholm and helsinki has NO starbucks at all while paris has 34 of them. we have 62, and counting.

Frida Kahlo




chanced upon this very enjoyable picture book on mexican artist frida kahlo a few days ago. coincidentally, if you happen to be home tonight, the biopic Frida (starring salma hayek) will be shown on okto channel at 10pm.

A street cat named Desire



remember mimi pong and her tear dolls? the artist has recently been commissioned by Strip to produce a very special series of plush interpretations of stray cats, in support of the welfare of abandoned kitties on our streets.

tagged with the location where they were first found, you can get to buy these plushies that have been handmade to replicate the unique markings of each individual cat. each set (comes with plushie street sign and pylon, see above!) are available for adoption at S$80, with part of the proceeds going to the Cat Welfare Society to fund the sterilisation of strays.

our good neighbour at unit 51 - Know It Nothing - has very recently launched the first parter to their new in-house label and already we are blown away: SIFR essentials is a series of premium grade cotton tees. they are super soft, come in 3 different styles and because they're unisex, we are so getting ourselves a couple of them(!). available right now at KIN.

if your husband/boyfriend/partner wants more boys' stuff from haji lane, there's also Sup who has a really great line of shirts and printed tees, and of course the always dependable white room.

to celebrate faber's 80th anniversary, the publisher came up with re-designed covers for a special series of classics. they are printed - the cover and insides - in the most wonderfully textured paper(!). $18.20 each, see above titles, now available at SL.

the idea of using craft in a graphic design context isn't unheard of, but this gorgeous cross stitch typography by evelin kasikov is so refreshing(!). via seesaw designs, a super cute blog maintained by a graphic design collective. there's also this funny wedding invite they made that you have to see.
